The platforms range from 5 to 19.5 metres above the ground and each one reveals a different level of the rainforest ecosystem with unique and spectacular views into the canopy and over the treetops. The guides provide eco talk on each platform so our lovely customer gain a better understand of the forest.

Our Team

Our team is made up of dynamic bunch of fun loving, enthusiastic people from all over the world, coming together as one big family to share their love of the rainforest and wildlife with our awesome customers. There is 25 of us in total including tour guides and office staff.

The Local Area And Accomodation

Jungle Surfing offers an opportunity to work in one of the most spectacular parts of the world – the world’s oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforest – and also an insight into a completely different and sustainable way of life.

We are Australia’s largest sustainable energy community and have no mains power or town water/sewerage. Most homes run on solar power with generator backup, and Jungle Surfing runs on solar and hydro power. Our private property borders the Daintree Cape Tribulation National Park, part of the World Heritage Listed Wet Tropics of Queensland.

Cape Tribulation is around 1 hour and 10 minutes from the nearest town, Mossman, and around 2.5 hours north of Cairns. There are two small general food stores, but no post office or bank although there are ATMs.

Cape Tribulation is one of only two places worldwide where the rainforest meets the reef, so directly off our palm-fringed, white sand beaches we have fringing reef and access to some of the best snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef with the one tour operating here. Plus cycling tours, horse- riding, bushwalks, exotic fruit tasting…

Cape Tribulation is small, and reasonably remote, so although it’s easy to get around (you can walk pretty much anywhere in Cape Trib within 15 minutes), it can be useful to have a car to give you the freedom to get to town and pick up groceries or explore the area.

Our climate is tropical. The Wet comes any time between November and April, but in practice February/March are usually the wettest months. It doesn’t rain constantly throughout the wet, most of the time its sunny one minute then there might be a shower a few minutes later, then sun again. Either way, it’s rarely cold, even when it’s pouring. Lowest night temperatures are around 14°. The most beautiful time of year is probably July to October when it’s dry and warm with clear blue skies and cool nights.

There is a variety of accommodation available in Cape Tribulation and we undertake to find each new employee a room or choice of rooms, usually in a share house or hostel, on commencement of employment. Rent is around $75-$150 per week.

Being rather remote Cape Tribulation is made up with a selection of long term Aussie locals, people that fell in love with the place and didn’t leave and travellers looking to soak up the beautiful environment and work. There are 6 different restaurant & cafes to choose from and everyone is very friendly – you will make friends quickly. There is always a cool adventure around the corner or an off the beaten track place to explore on your days off.
