A World Away From Your Everyday – The Daintree Rainforest.

DAINTREE RAINFOREST

Daintree Rainforest is an iconic name and destination in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, of Tropical North Queensland, Australia. It’s a place rich with natural and cultural heritage. Bursting with beautiful and unusual plants and animals. Above all else, it’s a place you can visit and feel connected with the tropical rainforest. You can feel the energy of the rainforest, catching glimpses of its residents who dart amongst the buttress roots of giant trees and fly through the canopy above. If you want to visit the world’s oldest continually surviving tropical rainforests, then add the Daintree Rainforest to your bucket list today.

ANCIENT PLANTS & ANIMALS

This living, breathing, thriving forest is home to an amazingly diverse selection of plants and animals, some of which represent some of the world’s most ancient species. We’re talking about pteridophytes, vascular plants that appeared over 200 million years ago, whose ancestors are still found in the Daintree Rainforest today. In fact, over 3,000 vascular plant species in 224 families live here, of which 576 species and 44 genera are endemic. The plants vary from the smallest fern and lichen to the tallest pines and cedars. The animals are just as diverse, with 30% of Australia’s marsupials calling the Wet Tropics Rainforest home.

CAPE TRIBULATION

Cape Tribulation is the only place on earth where two natural World Heritage listed sites are found side by side. It’s at the far northern end of the Daintree Rainforest and is one of the most isolated communities in the region. This is the perfect place to stop and explore the amazing wonders of the Daintree Rainforest, with many award-winning ecotourism tours and attractions operating here.

WHERE RAINFOREST MEETS REEF

Cape Tribulation is area of outstanding beauty with its soaring rainforest-clad mountains, sliding down through mangroves to meet pristine deserted beaches with offshore fringing reefs. In some places at low tide, it’s possible to explore rock pools with sea cucumbers, starfish and darting reef fish. This is a place of amazing colour and life, your own piece of paradise.

DAINTREE RAINFOREST ~ THE PLACE THAT TIME FORGOT

The Daintree Rainforest is like a time capsule of ancient plants and animals, a living museum just waiting for you to explore.
